Awang Roti Canai is a renowned halal restaurant nestled in the vibrant Taman Bukit Melaka, offering a nostalgic culinary experience since the 1980s. Renowned for its crispy, thick roti canai, this eatery is a haven for enthusiasts who relish a satisfying crunch paired with a chewy texture. Customers often laud the roti telur, which is notably thick and fulfilling, drawing praise even from heavy eaters who struggle to finish their portions.
While the roti is the star, the accompanying dishes like fish curry—fresh and aromatic—and sambal sotong add a delightful dimension to the meal. It's worth noting, however, that the prices can lean on the higher side, particularly for premium selections like fish head, which may deter budget-conscious diners.
Awang Roti Canai tends to draw large crowds, making an early arrival advisable to dodge the bustling post-8 AM rush. Parking can also be a challenge, so plan accordingly. Overall, the restaurant offers an indulgent taste of authentic Malaysian cuisine, perfect for those in search of delicious, quality roti canai that evokes fond memories.

The restaurant's signature fish curry and sambal sotong are frequently praised for their freshness and robust taste, though the limited variety of side dishes is noted. Popularity contributes to frequent crowding and parking challenges, particularly after early morning hours. Overall, Awang Roti Canai maintains a strong reputation as a beloved halal eatery with a nostalgic presence since the 1980s, attracting diners who appreciate traditional flavors and authentic Malaysian fare.
For ROTI CHANAI LOVERS ESP CRISPY ONES..AN OLD JOINT SINCE 80s..but on high side..crowded n parking problems..always packed..
Roti here is thick and oily (I liked it) their roti telur is very thick, I am a havey eater and I was not able to finish 2 roti telur and 1 roti kosong. They only have kari ikan (fish curry) and sambal sotong (squid). Add on 1 piece of fish is (Rm20) it was fresh and nice to eat but it was abit pricy. Fish head is around Rm60+. Come here before 7am to get a seat after 8am it will be very pack. If possible park opposite of the stall (near to the school ) as exiting from the stall car park is very hard cus it's a busy road (Accident prone area). Also they don't serve dhal here.
The roti canai is nice and abit oily, and the curry fish is very fresh and price range frm 20-40 per ekor /kepala. The sambal sotong rm 10.00 but the sotong is 5 pcs like that.
Delicious prata, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside! Fish curry is so appetising!
